Your best game

in the Salzkammergut

The Salzkammergut is an extraordinary region that has almost everything the (golfer’s) heart desires. The idleness is tempting, as is the wide range of opportunities for sporting activities. Wonderful hikes of all levels of difficulty, long bike rides or a relaxed round of golf are just a few of them.

In the middle of the Salzkammergut and just a few minutes’ drive from Landhaus zu Appesbach, lies one of the oldest golf courses in Austria – the Golfclub Salzkammergut.
The charm of the course comes from a mixture of a beautiful landscape with old, tall and gnarled trees and the depths of the water with its densely overgrown banks and demanding holes that pose a challenge for players of all levels. Our reception team will be happy to book your tee time.

This also applies to the three beautiful golf courses within a manageable distance of Grundlsee:

Golfclub Ausseerland (15 minutes’ drive from Seehotel Grundlsee):
has probably one of the most beautifully situated and excellently maintained courses in Austria. The course’s fairways are ideally suited to the natural landscape – a high plateau surrounded by the magnificent mountains of the Salzkammergut. The fairways change from straight fairways to doglegs, partly hilly, partly flat. The 9th hole rewards golfers with a unique view of the Dachstein glacier.</p

Golf & Countryclub Schloss Pichlarn (approx. 30 minutes’ drive):
The now 46-year-old GCC Schloss Pichlarn has a proud history as the organiser of many major national and international tournaments. This includes the time when the then reigning Masters champion Bernhard Langer set a course record of 66 strokes in 1985 and this course record stood for over 25 years. Summarised in one sentence: “Tradition and closeness to nature are the attributes that do full justice to the alpine golf club at the foot of the Grimming”.

Golfclub Schladming-Tauern (approx. 40 minutes’ drive):
In a scenic area in the middle of the Dachstein-Tauern region, this course is located at an altitude of 750 metres. Designed by Bernhard Langer, the course offers challenging fairways in a sunny location. The water landscapes give the course a particularly beautiful look, sometimes with a touch of Florida. One highlight, for example, is the “Crocodile Hole”, a challenge for every golfer. The golf club is part of the “Leading Golf Courses” group.
