EMBODIED HOSPITALITY, AUTHENTIC CUISINE AND TANGIBLE QUALITY IN HARMONY WITH RESPONSIBLE SUSTAINABILITY
In our hotels, lived values and sustainable enthusiasm are in harmony, with sustainability forming the basis of our actions and philosophy. With the help of the enthusiasm of our employees and partners in the region, we aim to embed mindfulness and resource efficiency in the long term.
We firmly believe that genuine hospitality, the highest quality and sustainable action go hand in hand. Our aim is to inspire and offer unforgettable experiences without our guests having to compromise on anything. We are passionately committed to promoting both their well-being and the protection of our environment. By carefully selecting our own products and our firm commitment and sense of responsibility, our measures are designed in terms of ecological sustainability to further improve the quality of your stay. The following three topics are at the centre of our sustainability philosophy:
Regionality
... means using local resources and value chains to shorten transport routes, strengthen the regional economy and protect the environment
- In the interests of Authentic culinary delights, we attach great importance to regional products and therefore source many of our ingredients from our own farms. The Seetal pasture lamb grazes in St. Wolfgang, the Angus cattle are looked after in Authal and in St. Georgen ob Judenburg at the Wiesengelter Hof, where we also have our own pig farm. Local fish species are the main protagonists on our plates – from char and trout to whitefish from our own Ausseerland fishery. Venison, red deer, black deer and chamois meat comes from our own hunt in the Authal forest, where we feast on the best that nature has to offer. Regionality and seasonality are just as important to us as species-appropriate husbandry and the fulfilment of the highest quality standards. We work with partners who share our philosophy and for whom our values are as self-evident as species-appropriate husbandry and natural production conditions.
- Our largest partners are small and medium-sized companies from the Austrian region. A personal relationship with our partners and a common set of values are essential components of a successful collaboration. From the support of our IT systems to painting work. The added value remains in the regions and in Austria.
- In order to make travelling to and from the hotel as environmentally friendly as possible, the majority of our hotels offer e-charging stations for our guests. Seewiese Altaussee, which is located in a nature reserve, favours an even more environmentally friendly mode of transport: it can only be reached on foot or by solar-powered boat. During their stay, guests can hire bicycles free of charge at all our locations to explore the region.
Mindfulness
... means using natural, economic and social resources in a conscious and reflective manner
- Over three quarters of the total area of the TAUROA facilities is not sealed, and in the extensive grounds great importance is attached to preserving the tree population, planting native plants and not to have a negative impact on the townscape.
- The hygiene partners of TAUROA primarily supply us with environmentally friendly cleaning products, most of which are produced locally. Both hygiene products for guests and cleaning products for employees come from Austria. Our partners focus on sustainable measures such as resource conservation, recycling and low-emission logistics in order to minimise environmental impact. In addition to the conscious selection of our suppliers, training and awareness-raising measures are a central component of our strategy for continuous improvement in line with our sustainability goals.
- Our colleagues are the soul of TAUROA. That’s why we offer generous and wide-ranging benefits such as accommodation close to the workplace, discounted shopping conditions, sports facilities and much more. Furthermore, we continuously promote creativity and further development in order to create a culture in which everyone enjoys coming to work and can feel comfortable and confident. Resource efficiency
... means utilising resources as effectively as possible in order to create more value with fewer resources
- It is no easy task to implement new technologies in buildings that are sometimes more than a hundred years old in order to use the resources given to us as sparingly as possible. Nevertheless, we do our best and are constantly improving. The 100% green electricity from Austria is used just as carefully as the regional water and natural resources.
- Regular renewals, recurring maintenance and the careful use of equipment reduce energy and water consumption as well as emissions and waste water.

With the high standards we set ourselves to create unique memories and unforgettable holiday moments, we understand that as a consumer you can also be sceptical and critical. We don’t claim that everything we do is 100% sustainable and look at our properties with the same critical eye as you do. Our aim is to continuously improve, carefully evaluate and find the right balance between proven and innovative approaches.
