Hike to the Zwieselalmhöhe
Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views
You can hike directly from the Winterstellgut in Annaberg to the Rottenhofhütte on the Zwieselalm via an evenly ascending forest path. It is idyllically situated at 1,390 metres above sea level in the Dachstein West hiking and skiing region and can be reached in around 1.5 hours on foot.
The 400-year-old hut is nestled in the alpine basin of the Riedlkaralm, at the foot of the Donnerkogel in a marvellous, peaceful location. A marvellous place to enjoy a few hours of sunshine and leave everyday life behind. If you want to hike even further, this is the best starting point for wonderful hiking and mountain tours of all levels of difficulty. The St Rupert pilgrimage route also passes right by the hut.
After a further 15-minute walk, for example, you can reach the Sonnenalm via hiking trail no. 49 and from here you can hike to the Zwieselalmhöhe/Aussichtsberg and enjoy the magnificent 360-degree panoramic view! If you still haven’t had enough, you can hike on from there to the Gablonzer Hütte and to Gosau. If your feet are aching, there is a hiking bus that will take you from Gosau back to Annaberg to the valley station of the gondola lift. As an overnight guest at Winterstellgut, you can use the Donnerkogel cable car at a reduced rate in summer.
